Composer - Filmmaker - Musician
EedeBee is the composing alter ego of Erik de Bruyn — filmmaker, screenwriter and director of works such as Wilde Mossels, Nadine, J. Kessels, De President, Grenslanders, De Troon, Zwanensprong and Blue Notes & Higher Grounds (Swingtij).
My music often emerges in the same space as my films: at the intersection of image, rhythm and atmosphere. I compose in a hybrid way, using analogue instruments, keys, modular synths, samples, strings & brass, field recordings and sound design.
My style can be described as:
-
cinematic, with a lyrical yet slightly unfinished edge
-
melodic, but never predictable
-
warm and dreamlike, yet grounded
-
influenced by minimalism, Americana, blues, ambient and European cinema
I compose for filmmakers, studios and producers who dare to choose character, mood and layered storytelling — and occasionally also for standard library sound.
I also write songs (music & lyrics).
Examples can be found on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and/or Deezer under PEG WHALES — songs I performed myself.
